TODAY'S ENTRY IS IS ABOUT AMPIN' YOUR LOOK, YOUR STATEMENT!

I am reading the Game of Thrones saga in Paperback edition -not because I do not watch the show but because:

I LOVE reading (also reading right now: The ENERGY BUS, The 10X RULE, among others)
I do enjoy the show and and enjoying looking for the twists away from the original text (from the on-screen version)

There are a lot to learn from the stories told through the words of George R.R. Martin... perhaps at a later date I will blog on my take on the undercurrents and themes I enjoy watching in GOT...

I could go on about the things I see and love within the books however one element I found intriguing is the use of family crests/sigils, emblems, coat-of-arms, banners... etc, etc.

I could not imagine that any of us could go around with sigils of "a direwolf racing across an ice-white field" or "golden lion upon a crimson field"... ( I can well-imagine the snickers we all could share or overhear - right or wrong).

What I can imagine is our own easy and stylish way to display our ourselves, our personalities and our own EYE! Pocket Squares and Handkerchiefs.

In my EYE, an ESSENTIAL however surprisingly understated and overlooked aspect of good (men's) fashion.

YES I KNOW - not a new thing but hear me out... why do we limit pocket squares, handkerchiefs and scarves for elegant or formal wear...?

It exudes flare and some UMPH to an already cool look (and yes, I am UBER-FAN of IDRIS... BIG UP 'DRIS!!)

NUFF SAID... in my recent internet travels, I found a very interesting site called the Gentleman's Gazette - launched by a very cool bloke (Sven Raphael Schneider - BIG UP!!) takes the viewer thru step-by-step re: how to fold pocket squares and handkerchiefs in very easy to understand terms (weblink to the official web portal below).

In the video below (see below), SRS (forgive my own abbreviation), he talks about "hand-rolled edges", use of natural materials and other quick tips. Take 10 mins out of your life and check this!!!

I personally have been ROCKIN' handkerchiefs for years (since moving to Tokyo because the competition here is FIERCE).

Men dress well for work and for play ... so do the LADIES!

Main point in all of this ATTENTION TO DETAIL is what separates the "mummers" from the "Daps" (DAPPER PEOPLE, PEOPLE)!

You don't have to be an narcissist to enjoy and have some self-pride about appearances and showing a bit of elegance. This is something we are starting to forget as a SOCIETY... don't get me started...

And to reiterate - this is NOT a HANKY!!

DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE IN IT!

(or let someone else for that matter- no matter how much of a gentleman or lady you want to be) ... this is a decorative piece.

Carry a separate, cotton kerchief (MEN - in your inner breast or pants back pocket), LADIES - in your valet!).
